Students will explore the art of creating depth and perspective through the creation of three fun art projects. Projects will be done in a variety of drawing media.<\/p>\n<p>PS2 Colour Theory<br \/>\n12:15-1:00 November 14, 21, 28, December 5<br \/>\nFee: $45<br \/>\nA fun, hands on approach to the basics of colour theory. Subject matter will be inspired by the work of the Group of Seven<\/p>\n<p>IS2 Winter Landscape Painting<br \/>\n12:00-12:45 January 10, 17, 24, 31(Tuesdays)<br \/>\nFee: $50<br \/>\nStudents will learn how to effectively use cool colours in the creation of a winter landscape on canvas.<\/p>\n<p>IS3 Improve your Figure Drawing<br \/>\n1:10-2:10 February 8, 15, 22, March 1 (Wednesdays)<br \/>\nFee: $50<br \/>\nA pencil drawing course that introduces students to the technique of gesture drawing. Students will be encouraged to practice their skills between classes.<\/p>\n<p>IS4 Manga Fun<br \/>\n1:15-2:00 March 7, 21, 28, April 4<br \/>\nFee: $50<br \/>\nA course for students who have taken \u201cImprove your Figure Drawing\u201d or have some experience drawing the human figure. Students will be introduced to the techniques used by Manga artists and animators and will be encouraged to practice their skills between classes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nArtist of the Month (six classes)<br \/>\n10-11:45 October 31, November 28,January 30, February 27, March 27, April 24<br \/>\nFee: $120<br \/>\nClass is held once per month. Students will be introduced to the life and work of a well known artist and create an original piece of art inspired by that artist. Students will also be introduced to the important characteristics of the art period in which the artist worked. Six artists will be covered: Munch, Homer, Cezanne, Warhol, VanGogh, Picasso and Seurat<\/p>\n<p><strong>Create a Class<\/strong><br \/>\nGroups of six or more are welcome to book a class. You choose the number of sessions and subject (drawing, painting, mixed media, subject study) Fees are calculated at $10 per student per hour. Depending on subject matter, a materials fee of $5 will be added to that amount. Time slots available for groups to book a class are Fridays between 9:30 and 3:00. Friday slots fill up quickly so book early to avoid disappointment!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>High School<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nGrade 9<\/p>\n<p>Dates: Sept 12, Oct 3, Nov 7, Dec 5, Jan 9,Feb 6, Mar 6, Apr 3, May 1, June 5<br \/>\nTime: 10-12:00<br \/>\n$200<br \/>\nThis course provides a foundation for further study in the visual arts. Students will experiment with different media as they explore the art produced by a variety of cultures. They will learn to analyze various forms of art and place them in an historical context. There is a strong emphasis on the elements and principles of design, colour theory and art history. Students meet with the instructor once a month. The majority of the studio component of the course is done independently between classes. Students (and parents) should be prepared to incorporate art homework into their daily schedule for the duration of the class.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Grade 10<br \/>\nDates:Sept 19, Oct 17, Nov 14, Dec 12, Jan 11, Feb 13, Mar 13, Apr 10, May 8, June 12<br \/>\nTime: 10-12:00<br \/>\nFee: $200<br \/>\nThis course will allow students to develop skills acquired in the grade nine course. Classes will balance art history, new media and a refined application of the principles and elements of design. Students will develop drawing and painting skills and learn to analyze works of art and the relationship between form and content. Students meet with the instructor once per month. The majority of the studio component of the course is done independently between classes. The course will include an extensive study of design, focusing on composition and the principles of design. In addition students will learn to analyze works of art and discuss how meaning is achieved through the form of the art. Written reports will encourage students to evaluate works using the critical analysis process. Students will take initiative in developing a theme of their choice and exploring it through a variety of media A number of key art works from a variety of cultures and time periods will be studied.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>SUMMER ART WEEK: July 11-15, 2016<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u201cCatch the Art Bug\u201d (Ages 6-8)<\/strong><br \/>\n10-11:30<br \/>\nJuly 11, 12, 13 and 14<br \/>\nor August 15, 16, 17 &amp;18, 2:30-3:45pm<br \/>\nFee: $55<br \/>\nAn introduction to a variety of art media. Students will explore sculpture, water colour, acrylic paint, ink and pastels while creating fun projects on the theme of insects. Art materials will be messy, so please dress students accordingly.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Manga, Animation and Claymation (Ages 9-13)<\/strong><br \/>\n12:30-2:15<br \/>\nJuly 11, 12, 13 and 14<br \/>\nFee: $65<br \/>\nIn this fun summer course students will practice drawing the human figure in both traditional and manga style.
